A dripping faucet adds up fast. The EPA says one drip per second can waste more than 3,000 gallons a year. We handle faucet and fixture repair for homes across Nashville and Middle Tennessee. That covers kitchen and bathroom faucets, shower valves, tubs and outdoor hose bibs.
Faucet repair often comes down to one worn part. The EPA points to old washers and gaskets as a common cause of faucet leaks. We find the failed part and put the quote in writing before the repair starts. Faucets are one part of our work as a plumber in Nashville and across Middle Tennessee.

Most showers have a valve behind the wall that mixes hot and cold water. Inside sits a cartridge, or on older two-handle showers, stems with rubber washers. When those parts wear, the shower drips after you shut it off or the handle turns stiff. A new cartridge is a shower repair, and the valve stays in the wall.
Shower valve replacement makes sense when the valve body is cracked or corroded, or its parts are no longer made. It also makes sense when new trim will not fit the old valve. Swapping the valve means opening the wall, from the shower side or from an access panel behind it.
Tennessee's residential code calls for a pressure-balancing or thermostatic valve on a shower. That kind of valve holds the temperature steady when someone flushes a toilet. A water heater maker's guide says 130-degree water can cause a serious burn in about 30 seconds. A shower that swings hot or cold on its own often has a worn cartridge.
A tub spout that drips after you shut the water off points back to a worn valve part. A diverter that will not stay up sends water out the spout and the shower head at once.
A leak at the drain or the overflow plate often comes from a worn gasket. It can show up as a stain on the ceiling below the tub. When the leak comes from a pipe inside the wall, our leak detection and repair service takes over.
Bathtub installation and replacement cover the tub, the drain and overflow, the spout and the valve. An alcove tub sits between three walls, with its edges tucked behind the wall finish. Brentwood's rough-in inspection checklist calls for a new tub filled above the overflow, which tests the drain joints.
By NOAA's climate normals, Nashville's airport sees about 66 nights a year at or below freezing. In December 2022 the low there hit 1 degree below zero. Metro Water Services lists outdoor hose bibs among the pipes that freeze most often.
A frost-proof hose bib shuts the water off inside the warm house, and the rest of the pipe drains. A hose left on blocks that drain, so the trapped water can freeze and split the pipe inside the wall. That split often stays hidden until spring, when someone first opens the faucet. Then water runs into the wall or the crawl space.
Hose bib replacement puts in a new frost-proof faucet with a slight downward slope, so it drains. Tennessee's residential code calls for a vacuum breaker on a hose bib, a small piece of backflow prevention. It keeps water from a hose in a pool or on a chemical sprayer out of your pipes. Each fall, take the hose off before the first hard freeze so the faucet can drain.
