Plumbing Service and Repair in Nolensville

Most Nolensville homes are young, and the water here is hard. Census Bureau survey figures show about six in ten homes in town were built in 2010 or later. The Nolensville/College Grove Utility District rates its water hard to very hard. The district says that hardness leaves scale in pipes and water heaters.

Stop The Drip is a plumbing company for homes across Nashville and Middle Tennessee. Nolensville is part of our service area, and La Vergne sits at the center of it. Here we handle clogged drains, running toilets, leaks and water heater replacement. Call or text (615) 723-2488, and we put the quote in writing before work starts.

What We Do in Nolensville

Tell us about the clog, leak, water heater or fixture and where it is. We look at the job and put the quote in writing.

What does Nolensville's hard water do to a water heater?

The town lists the Nolensville/College Grove Utility District as its water utility. The district buys its water from three suppliers. Its latest water quality report names the Town of Smyrna, Metro Nashville and the Mallory Valley Utility District. Hardness comes from natural calcium and magnesium in that water, the district says.

Hard water leaves spots on dishes and scale in pipes and water heaters. To help, the district suggests setting a water heater at 130 degrees or below. White specks in the water are another clue. In vinegar, calcium specks fizz, while bits of a worn water heater dip tube float.

When scale settles in the bottom of a tank, a flush clears it out. We do that as part of water heater repair. A tank that leaks from its body has rusted through, and a new water heater is the fix.

Irrigation, backflow and the May test in Nolensville

Irrigation drives the district's peak water demand, its own letter on watering days says. Under its address-based schedule, odd-numbered addresses may irrigate on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Even-numbered addresses get Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. The schedule covers automatic systems, and hand watering falls outside it.

Every irrigation system on district water needs backflow protection, and so do drip and misting systems. The district's rule calls for a reduced pressure backflow assembly at the meter or just past it. Its relief port must sit at least 12 inches, plus the port's size, above the ground or mulch.

The district tests each device every year, starting May 1, through a contracted tester. You get a call at least 24 hours ahead, and the water must be on to the device's second shutoff. A device that fails must be repaired within 30 days of the notice. We handle backflow preventer repair and replacement when that notice comes.

Old Nolensville Road, new subdivisions and town code

Nolensville has grown fast. When the town re-incorporated in 1996, it covered about three square miles and around 1,800 people. The 2020 Census counted 13,829 residents, more than double the 5,861 of 2010. A town special census in late 2023 raised the official count to 16,836.

The old town center sits along Nolensville Road. From north of Oldham Drive to York and Williams Roads, many 1800s buildings still serve as homes and stores. Subdivisions such as Bent Creek and Winterset Woods came with the growth.

The town enforces the 2024 International Plumbing Code. Its local amendments call for fire sprinklers in new houses, with a 1-inch water meter and service line. The town sets the freeze depth for piping in trenches at 12 inches. Crawl spaces need a positive drain.

Mill Creek runs through town, and it has flooded before. The town's history records a Mill Creek flood in 1979. In 1984, floodwaters closed Nolensville Road. Where water collects under a house, a sump pump is one fix.

Who handles sewer and gas in Nolensville?

Sewer is not the water district's job: Metro Nashville serves the Nolensville area, on its own bill. Some addresses in the district use City of Brentwood sewer, and the district office can say which serves yours. A clogged drain or a broken sewer line at the house is plumbing work we handle.

For gas, the town's utility list names Atmos Energy. The same Census survey shows about seven in ten homes here heat with utility gas. The town has also adopted the 2024 International Fuel Gas Code. Adding a gas range or an outdoor grill takes gas line installation, and we do that work.

I rarely leave reviews, but Freddy from Stop The Drip LLC absolutely earned this one. I’ve worked with a lot of plumbers over the years, and honestly, most of the time you can’t even get a callback. Good communication and reliability seem rare these days. That’s why working with Freddy was such an outstanding experience. I called him on a Sunday afternoon, and he actually answered the phone. He told me he’d be there Monday afternoon, then followed up Monday morning to let me know exactly when he would arrive and showed up right on time. Not only was his communication and professionalism top notch, but he was also able to quickly find exactly what was wrong and take care of the issue without any hassle. It’s hard to find service like this anymore. I’ll definitely be recommending Freddy from Stop The Drip LLC to everyone I know, and he is officially my go to plumber for all my plumbing needs moving forward.

Nolensville FAQ

Questions We Hear Around Nolensville

A few of the questions we hear most around Nolensville. If yours is not here, call or text and ask.

Call (615) 723-2488

Does the utility district fix leaks on my side of the meter?
No. The Nolensville/College Grove Utility District's work runs from the meter to the road, and repairs past the meter are yours. In dry weather, standing water or an extra-green strip between the meter and the house can point to a leak. Call or text (615) 723-2488 for leak detection and repair.
Do I need a pressure regulating valve in Nolensville?
It depends on where you live in the district, since not every area needs one. Where pressure tops 80 psi, even briefly, the district recommends a PRV plus an expansion tank at the water heater. Noise in the pipes after the water shuts off is one sign of a failed valve. A PRV is the homeowner's to keep up, and we do pressure regulating valve replacement.
Do I need a permit for plumbing work in Nolensville?
The Town of Nolensville Building Codes Department reviews and issues plumbing permits in town. Whether your job needs one is the department's call, and we point you there. Before any digging, Tennessee law calls for a Tennessee 811 ticket at least three working days ahead.
How much does a plumber cost in Nolensville?
It depends on the job and how hard the problem is to reach. A water heater swap turns on the fuel and the size of the tank. Federal soil maps show rock near the surface in parts of town, which adds work to a buried line. We look at the job and put the quote in writing before any work starts.
How do I protect pipes in a Nolensville freeze?
The town posts winter steps for homes with fire sprinklers, which new houses must have. The list says to keep the heat at 60 degrees or higher and check attic insulation over water pipes. The district also suggests unhooking garden hoses so an outdoor faucet line does not burst. If a pipe splits anyway, shut the main valve and call or text (615) 723-2488.
