Hendersonville sits on Old Hickory Lake, and the city has more than 26 miles of shoreline. About one in three homes here went up in the 1960s or 1970s, Census figures show. In a house that age, the drain lines and shutoff valves may be the originals. When something breaks, the first question is often whose pipe it is.
Stop The Drip is a plumber serving Nashville and Middle Tennessee, and Hendersonville is part of our service area. In homes here, we fix leaks, clogged drains, water heaters, toilets and faucets. We also repair sewer lines, water lines, gas lines and backflow preventers. We look at the job and put the quote in writing, so call or text (615) 723-2488.

Census figures show about three in four Hendersonville homes are detached single-family houses. The median home was built in 1989. About one in five went up in 2010 or later. Durham Farms, off New Shackle Island Road and Long Hollow Pike, is one of the newer subdivisions.
Under the lawns, USDA soil maps show Mimosa soil across much of the city. It is a clay soil formed over limestone, with rock 40 to 60 inches down. The USDA rates it high for corrosion of uncoated steel. In rocky spots, the maps show limestone just 8 to 20 inches down.
That clay and rock shape any dig for a buried line. When we dig to repair a sewer line, limestone can slow the trench. Before any digging, Tennessee law calls for a Tennessee 811 locate ticket at least three working days ahead. Utilities mark their own lines, but they may not mark private ones.
The City of Hendersonville does not own or run the water and sewer systems. Its utilities page lists two providers, Hendersonville Utility District (HUD) and White House Utility District. Some homes get water from White House Utility District and sewer from HUD, with a bill from each.
HUD draws its water from Old Hickory Lake, at an intake near Rockland Park. Its sewer lines carry wastewater to Metro Nashville's treatment plants. HUD's water report warns that grease poured down drains hardens inside sewer pipes and can cause backups. When grease slows a kitchen line, our drain cleaning work clears it.
HUD's posted policies say keeping the plumbing in good working order is the customer's job. Leaks on the house side of the meter are the owner's to fix. Our water line repair work covers the yard line from the meter to the house. In Mimosa clay, an old steel yard line may be rusted through.
HUD's water specifications call for a backflow preventer on every irrigation service. An in-ground sprinkler system tied straight to a meter needs a reduced pressure backflow assembly. So does a hose bib connected directly to a meter. The assembly goes between the meter and the first connection.
The assembly has to sit above ground, where it can be reached for annual testing and repair. HUD wants it taken off for winter unless an approved cover protects it. After a failed test, HUD gives written notice and a deadline to fix it. It allows two re-tests before it shuts off the water.
The city's plumbing permit form lists an irrigation system as its own item, so ask Building and Codes first. We install new assemblies and repair old ones as part of our backflow prevention work.
HUD's winter advice starts outside: unhook hoses and wrap the outdoor spigot. Inside, open the cabinet doors under sinks on outside walls. Keep the house at 55 degrees or warmer, and close the crawl space vents. Below 10 degrees, HUD suggests a slow drip of cold water at one faucet.
Cold that deep is rare in Middle Tennessee. Nashville's airport averages fewer than two nights a year at 10 degrees or colder, NOAA normals show. In the December 2022 cold snap, the airport hit minus 1 degree, and highs stayed below freezing for three days. A pipe that splits in a freeze is a leak we find and fix.
The city plans to raise the Stop 30 Road and Drakes Creek Road intersection to cut flooding there. On private lots, the city says owners manage their own stormwater. Mimosa clay drains slowly, so water in a crawl space tends to stay. A sump pump moves it out, and we install them.

Called the business and was able to get a same day appointment for my clogged kitchen drain and broken garbage disposal. They replaced the garbage disposal and did a hydro jetting. Throughout the process Freddie was very professional, friendly, and informative. He let me know all the steps of the process, gave options and his recommendations. At the end of the day, everything is fixed and he performed multiple tests to verify their work. Overall satisfied with this company .
We found a water leak lastnight , messaged stop the drip and they came out this morning at 8am. Found the leak, explained to us what happed, fixed it & referred us to someone for restoration and they are already on the way here to help us. An hr and a half later. I’m so so happy with my experience and will definitely be recommending them to anyone looking for a plumber.
I rarely leave reviews, but Freddy from Stop The Drip LLC absolutely earned this one. I’ve worked with a lot of plumbers over the years, and honestly, most of the time you can’t even get a callback. Good communication and reliability seem rare these days. That’s why working with Freddy was such an outstanding experience. I called him on a Sunday afternoon, and he actually answered the phone. He told me he’d be there Monday afternoon, then followed up Monday morning to let me know exactly when he would arrive and showed up right on time. Not only was his communication and professionalism top notch, but he was also able to quickly find exactly what was wrong and take care of the issue without any hassle. It’s hard to find service like this anymore. I’ll definitely be recommending Freddy from Stop The Drip LLC to everyone I know, and he is officially my go to plumber for all my plumbing needs moving forward.
